Destiny DLC Should Be Free

Bungie’s latest creation, Destiny, has been through a lot of changes since its launch (which wasn’t that long ago) and the devs keep on morphing it. But small changes, fixing, and patching didn’t bring out Destiny’s best yet, as the game’s final stage is still all about grinding, farming and monotonous routine. So everyone is excited about the upcoming first DLC called The Dark Below which will include all kind of new stuff. This expansion is going to cost players $20 and while some may say that’s a small price, the fact is, it should be totally free.

First, let’s see what this DLC will add to the game. It will raise the level cap up from 30 to 32, giving players access to new gear in order to reach that level, it will include three new story missions, two strikes, three mutiplayer maps, a new raid level, new vendor and some brand new weapons. This all sounds great, but it doesn’t account for the DLC’s price tag.

First of all, Destiny has a pretty small amount of weapons and armour, as all players already know all of them and what they do. Introducing new gear into the game should be seen as an ordinary update, Bungie should keep the flow of adding new stuff constant and give players exciting new items every time Xur comes to visit.

Second of all, there are rumours that Destiny’s new story content is already present on the disk and this is pretty believable as we all remember the glitched areas in the alpha stage of the game (Seraphim Vault ring any bells?). So its obvious that there’s more on the disk than it is presented to us at this time, and I’m sure that those locations along with their respective missions will be featured in the upcoming DLC’s, whether it’s The Dark Below or House of Wolves. So there’s no reason to pay for something that is already developed and on our disks. Not to mention the areas and scenes presented in the first few trailers of the game that do not appear in the released version of Destiny.

Don’t get me wrong, Destiny is not the first (and surely not the last) game that features such “new”, paid, additional content. But having so much stuff already developed and up to go since the game launched and not releasing it on purpose in order to make players buy this content later in time is not the right way to go. Let’s say that I’d understand it if the game was huge and complex, with plenty of raids, strikes, missions, maps and gear that would require days or even weeks to find and explore. But Destiny came as a very unfinished and unpolished game, with major flaws. It took about two weeks for all its secrets to be unveiled and its all rinse and repeat from there.

Bungie is doing a great job fixing bugs and updating the game every week, but it needs major additions of gear, missions and bounties in order to keep players coming back to it. I played Destiny like a mad man the first month, tens of hours a week, but now I barely play for two hours every week, and that just because I’m part of a clan and therefore obliged to take part in the weekly raid. And while these additions are on their way, they should not cost a single penny as it’s Bungie’s duty to take care of their game and their consumers without charging them more and that, for something they already have, but can’t access it.

Should be free not because the content has already been developed or because its on the disc already! It should be free because of the piss poor pathetic excuse of a release game! Stupid, badly written and incomplete story, LIES about “where you can see you can go” or did that twat mean “you might die attempting to get there” absolute stupidity! The cunt goes on to say in their latest dev video “we’re listening, you wanted more content, we’re giving you more” Oh, so you call 3 story missions ‘more content?!’ GET THE FUCK outta my FACE with that horseshit!! Then they think they are clever by saying “there will be quests”. All that means is, playing the same SHIT over and over again with different checkpoints and difficulty! Luckily for these cheap ass chessy greedy pricks, I’ve already bought TDB, and THOW so I will be playing them, but after that I will no longer be supporting this repetitive nonsense. If I would not have already bought the new DLC, I would be so done with this stupid game!

Been at destiny fan since I was six years old, all the way to now at twenty. It makes me sad to see the company I grew up idolising becoming this commercial monster.
