First Person Perspective Completely Changes GTA 5, Should be Included in all Future GTA Games
After one year Grand Theft Auto V is finally available on both next-gen consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC release coming sooner than you’d think. If you already played the game you might be wondering what’s so special about this version that makes it worth buying and playing all over again. Well, we got our hands on GTA V, and after we lost almost an entire night scouting for a good reason we found one hidden in plain sight.
GTA V’s hidden treasure is the first-person perspective, which radically changes the game. It’s the first time in the history of GTA (not including mods) when you can actually play in first-person. But what’s so special about it? We’ve seen over a million games that can be played like this, so it’s not really a breakthrough in technology or gaming. Well, while the button mapping feels a bit rusty, the graphical enhancements brought to the game, combined with a very realistic and amazing first-person perspective makes everything shine in a way we’ve never expected.
Everything feels and looks fresh, from handling a gun, driving a car, to going nuts in a supersonic airplane. I felt like the game sucked me in for more than a handful of hours, and kept amazing me at every corner. While the game’s story is entirely the same, this different way of experiencing things will make you think you are already playing the next iteration of GTA.
If you were used to a certain style of driving or shooter, forget about it. The jump from third-person to first-person perspective will at first seem unusual, but once you get used to it, you won’t go back! You’ll feel like you are part of the action, your heartbeat will fluctuate and you’ll be genuinely terrified. Jumping from a plane, or car will look completely different this way, and will more than often introduce you with the brutal pavement.
Of course, if you can’t get used to it, rest assured as you can switch back to the old views by just pushing a button. However, in order to have a truly new experience when playing the same game you’ll have to make some sacrifices. Get out of your comfort zone, and start playing GTA 5 using the first-person perspective… you won’t regret it!
