Duke it out in Ironcast.
Today the developers behind the forthcoming Ironcast, Dreadbit Games, revealed more details about two of the Commanders. First up was William Beechwood.
William is one of the First Commanders to be announced during the Kickstarter campaign. He is quite the arrogant man, seeking glory on the battlefield above all else. The owner of the Beechwood Munitions Group (formerly Beechwood Metals Group, but bullets seemed to be more profitable), he heads into battle armed with the very finest quality ammunition.
William’s Signature Augmentation boosts your chances of an automatic Overdrive (the game’s name for a critical strike) with weapons whenever he completes longer matches of purple nodes. In addition, all projectile weapons have their damage boosted. As a result, Dreadbit encourages gamers to pick Missile Launchers, Light Cannons, and Shotcannons whenever they choose Beechwood.
Next up is Adhira Dhankhar, who is a Kickstarter exclusive Commander. Adhira’s family worked in food produce distribution, however her pioneering research into cooling techniques brought her to the attention of the Consortium of Merit. Though her freezing technology was designed to keep perishables from spoiling while being transported, she adapted the devices to provide suitable cooling for the Ironcast’s Voltite generators.
If you match 6 or more coolant nodes, you can ensure that the next system activated will consume no coolant. If your coolant tank is full, all weapon damage is increased by 10%.
In addition to these two commanders, Dreadbit Games has revealed details on the Global Unlocks. “Ironcast is designed to be hard,” they state, “and you will not complete the campaign on the first attempt. It may be possible, but it is highly improbable.” WIth that in mind, every time your Ironcast is destroyed, you make progress towards unlocking what is known as a Global unlock.
These are upgrades that can be added to your campaign, thus making progress more manageable. In addition, every upgrade can be unlocked several times, allowing each to stack up to be quite the boost for a struggling commander. Some examples include the following:
* More starting HP:
Your Ironcast enjoys 15 more Health Points (HP) at the start of a campaign.
* More HP on level up:
Levelling up during a campaign awards your Ironcast Commander with a new ability but also boosts your Ironcast’s HP by a small amount. This Global Unlock boosts
that health increase by 5 each time. This will certainly add up as you head towards the end of the campaign!
* Scrap bonus:
The Scrap you earn from missions, matching nodes and destroying enemies is boosted by 5%, making those higher grade weapons and systems slightly more obtainable.
* Experience points bonus:
Finally, this Global Unlock provides you with a 5% XP boost, meaning faster levelling throughout the campaign. More levels mean more HP boosts, more abilities and more augmentations for your Ironcast. Useful!
