In a huge announcement earlier today, CD Projekt Red confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature a free downloadable content program for the game after launch. 16 free DLC packs will be released for the game after launch and will be available to players completely free. According to the announcement, the DLC is being offered with “no strings attached.”
The DLC program is valid for every player who owns a copy of the game and for each version of the game (PS4, Xbox One, PC). CD Projekt Red will release the first DLC bundle on February 25, a day after the game’s scheduled launch, with the Temerian Armor Set and the Beard and Hairstyle Set. The Temerian Armor set includes armor for Geralt’s horse, and the Beard and Hairstyle Set offers more customization options for Geralt. The second Witcher 3 DLC bundle will include a brand new quest and an alternate search for one of the game’s main characters, Yennefer. Yennefer is a powerful sorceress and the long lost love of Geralt of Rivia. Per the announcement, CD Projekt Red plans on releasing two pieces of DLC every following week. In addition, players will have access to the DLC regardless of pre-ordering a copy or buying it after launch.
CD Projekt Red plans on revealing the plans of how to obtain access to the DLC at a later date. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunts hits the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC on February 24.
