Dark Knight is the first job revealed in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: Heavensward.
This past weekend, London hosted over 2,000 gamers during its first Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn fan festival. Square Enix decided to take the chance to reveal new details for the upcoming expansion, Heavensward.
During the opening ceremony presentation, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida introduced flying mounts, new beast tribes, and primals. In addition, he showed off a brand new job for characters to take on: Dark Knight. All of these and more will be featured in the upcoming Heavensward when it launches in Spring 2015.
The flying mounts will enable players to take their adventures to new heights. Two were featured during the Fan Festival, namely a flying black chocobo and single-rider airships, both of which will make it easier to explore the floating lands that will be featured in the expansion.
The beast tribes introduced are the Vanu Vanu and the Gnath. These come complete with their primals, Bismarck for the former and Ravana for the latter.
Finally, the first new job to be released in the expansion, Dark Knight, was detailed. This job will serve primarily as a tank, wielding a two-handed greatsword. It will also utilize darkness-based actions. Unlike the existing jobs, however, this job will not feature a base class that later evolves into a job.
Yoshida ended the keynote by announcing that more details and jobs will be revealed (as he pretended to shoot a gun) for Heavensward at the next Fan Festival event. This event will take place in Tokyo on December 20-21.
