New video shines more light on 2Dark
Today the acclaimed French designer Frederick Raynal unveiled more details about his new survival adventure game, 2Dark. These details came courtesy of a video that coincides with the start of his crowdfunding campaign over at Ulule.
Fredrick Raynal is well known for creating the original Alone in the Dark, as well as Little Big Adventure. Now, along with the indie studio Gloomywood, Raynal is returning to his roots with 2Dark, placing players in dark and unsettling locations as they attempt to find and save as many children as possible. As they attempt to rescue the children, they will be pursued by ever-present serial killers.
The developers aim to bring a “visually unique survival adventure experience” in 2Dark. You will be forced to solve puzzles and procuring weapons as you attempt to save the children and survive yourself. You have only limited resources to utilize in order to create light and even evade traps that are lying in wait.
2Dark features ten different, replayable levels which tells the backstory of the protagonist Mr. Smith. It also utilizes an innovative voxel graphic rendering style that has been developed in-house at Gloomywood in order to create an old-school top-down perspective.
“We really wanted to return to our roots with 2Dark and with this game we set out to design a completely new gameplay experience and something really innovative,” explains Frederick Raynal. “2Dark is an infiltration adventure game and set in a distinct and dark world, and it’s all about that psychological tension in the middle of unrelenting action.”
