AppSteroid enters Open Beta.
Today Fresvii, the one-stop platform service for smartphone game developers, announced the Open Beta for their Mobile Game Cloud Platform known as AppSteroid. This platform features the first in-game mobile voice chat, Chatter. This unique feature allows mobile developers to integrate something never before available for mobile titles. Chatter can be integrated seamlessly through Fresvii’s AppSteroid platform.
Hiro Nakagawa, CEO of Fresvii stated, “”We are excited to introduce the ability for in game chat for mobile gaming. No other platform provides the breadth of community features. AppSteroid encourages player loyalty which helps mobile developers acquire and retain players.”
AppSteroid isn’t limited to Chatter, however. It also features a seamless integration of in-game texting. Developers who want to encourage competition can integrate leaderboards across both iOS and Android devices. These can be changed to match the game’s aesthetics.
Developers focusing on multiplayer can utilize AppSteroid to integrate matchmaking. This feature is available across iOS and Android devices, and can be customized by developers by defining filtering conditions. The matchmaking feature currently only supports turn-based games with up to 16 players, however more is expected to be added as AppSteroid grows.
All of these features are joined by community management, game forums, push notifications, and even social network integration. Each can be integrated via the SDKs. These were specifically designed to allow developers to add on components as needed. AppSteroid supports Unity, Android, and iOS.
“AppSteroid’s suite of game community tools lets me bypass the costly process of building social network infrastructure and focus on great game play instead,” said Chris Pruett, CEO of Robot Invader, a game development studio based in the Silicon Valley.
“Developers can easily wrap other AppSteroid community features around Chatter such as forums, group and friend management,” added Sherman Luong, Chief Strategist at GameCo, a game development studio based in Newport Beach, CA.
In addition to the Open Beta of AppSteroid, Fresvii announced that they have raised $1.8 million in funding. This was led by Nissay Capital Co, Ltd. a VC firm based in Japan, as well as other angel investors.
