Activision gives free next-gen upgrade for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
Fans around the world are eagerly preparing for a new era of Call of Duty this November as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare draws ever closer to release. Today Activision decided to share a bit of news that many who have already made the leap to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will likely be pleased to hear; Gamers who purchase Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare digitally on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 will be able to download the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions for free.
This comes as part of Activision’s program to ease the transition between console generations. There are limitations to this offer, however. First off, this promotion is limited to those who purchase the game by March 31, 2015. The second limitation comes in the form of the title: The free upgrade offer only applies to digital copies and not physical game copies.
On that note, some gamers may be pleased to hear that all of your multiplayer stats will transfer, as will any DLC you may decide to purchase (including the Season Pass) will also transfer for free, as long as your Xbox Gamertag or PSN ID remains the same between consoles.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will launch on November 4 worldwide. As a special bonus, anybody who decides to purchase the Day Zero version of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, either physically or digitally, can begin playing up to 24 hours before the title launches. This special edition of the game will also feature two custom weapons, namely the AK-12G Assault Rifle and Crossbow-B2. Finally, the Day Zero version will grant gamers double the experience earned on November 3.
