The team at Risin’ Goat was thrilled to reveal that their A Rite from the Stars Kickstarter has been funded successfully. The successful funding means, the developers state happily, that they will be able to fast-track the completion of the title without having to compromise their vision by seeking funding from either a publisher or “angel investor”.
Having reached the funding goal for A Rite from the Stars, the team decided to add in a couple of stretch goals for the final hours of the campaign. The first was set at $43,000, and would have included an extra level as well as a professional remaster of the A Rite from the Stars soundtrack. The team failed to obtain the extra funds for these stretch goals, but they did obtain over $1,000 more than their $40,000 funding target.
A Rite From the Stars follows a mute boy named Kirm, who is a member of the Makoa Tribe. He is forced to leave his childhood behind when he undergoes a rite of passage on the mystical island of Kaikala. What surprises await the young boy?
The game, slated for a February 2015 release on PC, Mac, Linux, Ouya, and Wii U, is a point and click adventure title inspired by classic titles such as Broken Sword. The developers stated, “The game features three different paths to complete with unique mechanics, performance based achievements, and multiple endings. A Rite From The Stars doesn’t feature point ‘n click clichés like pixel hunts, pointless walks or boring inventory management (also known as “using the stick in everything until it works).”
