I got the RetroN 5 back in July and other then being a tad tricky to insert and remove Sega Genesis games I have been enjoy the system. Now the value of Hyperkin’s retro gaming console has added in some new features with the latest Firmware V 2.0 Beta 1 which includes IPS patch support. This means that you can now add in fan made translation patches to many imported games that was not made with English in mind like so many Japanese role playing games. You can also add in custom graphics and levels as well.
Other updates from the firmware includes:
– Added support for SNES SPC7110 cartridges
– Fixed screen shaking in some GBA games
– File manager is now able to operate on folders (select with long button press) and copy/remove folders recursively
– Misc game compatibility fixes (Fantasy Zone, Sky Kid, Youkai Club)
Be in mind though that the beta firmware may have a few bugs in it, but you are still interested click here to get the latesr beta firmware
