Microsoft has just revealed the official release date for the stand-alone Kinect device, after teasing it back in May. The peripheral will run you $149, and you can buy it starting with October 6, 2014 in North America.
Since the Xbox One can now be purchased without a Kinect device, Microsoft wanted to offer people a chance to change their mind and pick up a Kinect anytime they want. There’s not a lot of games in which Kinect actually makes a difference, but the voice commands and the ability to use it via Skype can be quite useful.
There’s no word for an European release, but we can expect for it to arrive soon enough!
