Sony Is Not To Blame For DDOS Attack

Sony being a victim of a DDoS attack from a hacker group called the Lizard Squad is the most talked about subject of the moment. Naturally, a lot of people are angry at Sony because of their inability to protect themselves and thus, the players utilizing their network (again!). But is Sony really to blame?

Defending yourself from DDoS attacks is kind of… difficult. You can’t actually prevent them. It’s pretty much impossible, the best thing you can do prior to an attack is to acknowledge that fact that a DDoS attack is simple, cheap, unsophisticated, and effective and that you and all the websites out there are easy targets. You don’t see it coming. The real work comes after the attack itself, that’s when you can actually do something, unless you’re under total pressure, which makes things more difficult.

Anyway, the thing is, Sony couldn’t have prevented it. The only thing Sony can do is fight them and I hope that they won’t be down again for a few months and get sensitive data stolen.
