Moon Hunters will begin Kickstarter campaign on August 26
Today the Square Enix Collective and Kitfox Games were delighted to announce that Moon Hunters, Kitfox’s pixel-art mythology-building role-playing game, will begin its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter next Tuesday.
For those unaware, Collective is a curated platform that enables creators to post game ideas, allowing gamers to judge whether those ideas should become a reality. The developers that Collective supports will undergo a Team Assessment before any funding campaigns begin. This is to ensure that the team’s plans are indeed viable and that they have the capability of creating the game they wish to.
Kitfox passed this Team Assessment, and though, as Square warns, the fact that they passed it is not a guarantee that the team will accomplish every goal that they set, it is an indication that Square believes that the team has what it takes to bring the game to completion, considering their stated aims.
The title in question, Moon Hunters, was initially posted on the Collective platform during the pilot phase earlier this year. Since that time, Kitfox has shipped Shattered Planet, a roguelike that has been critically-acclaimed, on both mobile platforms and Steam, and are currently gearing up to enter full production of Moon Hunters.
They aim to raise $45,000) in order to help them complete this new project.
Tanya Short, designer on Moon Hunters, stated, “The team is really eager to show off what we’ve been working on and get more input from the community. Collective has helped us find our audience for a mythology-building RPG, getting the word out about this beautiful game we’re trying to make.”
Phil Elliot, project lead at Collective, added, “Moon Hunters caught my eye very early on with its great visual style and design bursting with personality – and gamers echoed that with strong support during the game’s feedback campaign. Since getting to know the team at Kitfox Games over the past 9 months, we’re really happy to be supporting them through their Kickstarter – we’ve learnt a great deal since Collective launched fully in April, and we’ll put all of that experience into this campaign and help the team get the best result they can.”
Will Moon Hunters be successful in their campaign?
