SQUARE ENIX helps Curve bring Stealth Inc to Japan.
It was revealed today that Curve Digital’s flagship stealth platform game, Stealth Inc, will be heading to Japan on PlayStation 4, thanks to a new publishing deal with SQUARE ENIX.
For those unaware, Curve Digital has been responsible for publishing several well-known indie titles onto console formats. These include Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor, and Proteus. The new collaboration with SQUARE represents the very first time that Curve will be bringing a conversion to the Japanese market.
Stealth Inc. will be fully localized by SQUARE ENIX and made available as downloads via the PlayStation Network Store.
Jason Perkins, Curve Digital’s Managing Director, stated, “We’ve been interested in bringing Stealth Inc to Japan ever since E3 last year, when we had a really positive response from the Japanese press. As a publisher ourselves, we know how important understanding the local markets can be, and working together with SQUARE ENIX allows us to take advantage of their years of expertise in Japan.”
Shiomi Takuya from SQUARE commented, “It is our pleasure to be able to bring Stealth Inc to Japan. We plan on fully utilizing SQUARE ENIX’s pipeline to introduce the game to as many Japanese gamers as possible. Curve Studios’ titles that appeal to the Japanese market are not limited to Stealth Inc, and we are actively seeking opportunities to release more in the future.”
Currently, the game is planned to arrive in Japan in two different versions. The first is the original version, released for PlayStation 3 and Vita. Next up is the Ultimate Edition, which will include the game’s DLC packs and be released on PlayStation 4.
To wrap things up, Perkins noted that Curve would continue looking at Japanese releases, stating, “With the renewed focus on digital amongst platform holders, downloadable titles are becoming more popular in Japan. While Stealth Inc might be our first title to be released in Japan, it’s not likely to be our last.”
