Evolve your special Shiny Beldum into Shiny Mega Metagross.

Evolve your special Shiny Beldum into Shiny Mega Metagross.

Recently Nintendo and The Pokémon Company revealed that players who have Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire on the launch date (November 21, 2014) will be able to get a special Shiny Beldum holding a Metagrossite Mega Stone. Players can utilize the stone to Mega Evolve the Shiny Metagross (the final “normal” evolution of Beldum) into Shiny Mega Metagross.

In addition, you can begin entering your caught Pokémon into five different contest categories once you arrive in the Hoenn region’s Pokgame contests, you may still want to participate in at least one, as upon doing so for the first time will net you a special Cosplay Pikachu, which knows moves that normal Pikachus cannot learn.

Pikachu Rock Star, for example, knows the Steel-type move Meteor Mash, while Pikachu Pop Star knows the Fairy-type move Draining Kiss, neither of which a regular Pikachu can learn. Other Pikachus and their moves are Pikachu, Ph.D., which can utilize the move Electric Terrain, Pikachu Belle, who has Icicle Crash, and finally, Pikachu Libre, who knows Flying Press.

Evolved Pokémon have also been announced. The first up is none other than Mega Altaria, which becomes a Dragon and Fairy type, receiving the ability Pixilate (this changes Normal moves into Fairy moves). Next up we have Mega Salamence, who receives the Aerilate ability, turning Normal moves into Fighting moves. Finally we have Mega Lopunny, who receives Scrappy, which makes Ghost Pokémon, normally invulnerable to Normal moves, vulnerable to Mega Lopunny’s Normal and Fighting moves.

Finally, Horde Encounters, which was featured in Pokémon X and Y, returns in the upcoming Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. You should be careful, however, as this time you can be caught by not only hordes of wild Pokémon, but hordes of trainers as well.
