The Uncharted film has a release date, Sony Pictures Entertainment saying that the movie adaptation of the famous games series will hit cinemas on June 10th, 2016.

With Seth Gordon as director, known for Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief movies, the filming schedule will begin early next year. Until then a new actor must be cast for the role of Nathan Drake, replacing Mark Wahlberg who departed the project.

“I want it to be a great actor,” said Gordon. “That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act].”

Releasing the Uncharted movie in June 2016 was a great move from the studio, which permits them to push The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2018.
