Clint Dempsey Chosen for FIFA 15 Cover

Yesterday, Electronic Arts announced that US Men’s National Team Captain and Seattle Sounders FC star midfielder, Clint Dempsey, will appear on the North American cover of FIFA 15, along with Lionel Messi. The reveal was made at the start of the Sounders FC vs. Tottenham Hotspur friendly and it will be the first time that an American has appeared on the game’s cover since 2011.

Dempsey, 31, led the US Men’s National Team to a heroic performance in the 2014 FIFA World Cup and is one of the best American soccer players in history. He made records during the tournament as well, netting the fifth fastest goal of all time with a strike in the first 29 seconds of the USA vs. Ghana opener, and became the first American to score goals in three consecutive World Cups.

Clint Dempsey voiced his opinion on being included in the yearly EA soccer simulation.

“It’s an amazing opportunity in my career to be on the cover for FIFA 15, a game that has played a big role in growing the popularity of the sport in America.” “To join the class of other elite athletes who have appeared on previous covers is very humbling and I am extremely grateful for this honor.”

FIFA 15’s big grab this year is bringing the emotion of soccer to life. The crowds will bring intensity to the matches with chanting and cheering, using Dynamic Presentation, commentators will be able to tell the story of the game, and all 22 players will be connected on the pitch by Emotional Intelligence. This allows the players to react to opponents and teammates within the context, and relative to the narrative of the match.

FIFA 15 is available for pre-order now, and will release worldwide in September on PC, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. EA will also release versions of FIFA 15 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita sometime this Fall.
