Sakurai hints at a few more new characters joining Super Smash Bros.
Taking to Miiverse this morning, Masahiro Sakurai, the game director of Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, announced that he would be revealing a new character on Monday.
“Oh, by the way! I’d like to reveal a new challenger. Instead of doing the unveiling on something like a Nintendo Direct, we’re going to live-stream the reveal on the official website on Monday, July 14, at 7:00 AM US Pacific Time (4:00 PM European Central Time).”
Now, while it’s nice to announce your announcements ahead of time, he went on to say…
“Looks like we’re nearing the bottom of the stash of new challenger videos that we’ve made… Like always, we put a lot of effort into it, so I hope you’ll enjoy watching it live.”
This little tidbit of information reveals that this “new challenger” will not be the last, and given that we already have nine new challengers, it’s likely that we’ll be seeing approximately three more if we’re at the “bottom of the stash”.
So, who do you think it’ll be? Are the rumors of Chrom, Shulk, and the Chorus Men true? I for one would prefer my in-game wife Tharja from Fire Emblem Awakening. Fire Emblem has a large host of female cast members and a dark magic user would definitely change things up with the standard sword-bearing Fire Emblem cast. Though perhaps it’s something entirely different like another third party character like Sora or Simon Belmont? Sound off in the comments with what you think. If it’s one of the three rumored characters, chances are that they might be the final new characters added to the game.
