Deep Silver has today announced a new title in the Dead Island franchise – Escape from Dead Island, which is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The game is a third-person survival mystery game that is single-player only, and goes into the origins of the zombie outbreak, which takes place between Dead Island and Dead Island 2.

Players will take on the role of Cliff Calo who is looking into the events that have gone down on Banoi, and after arriving on the island of Narapela, he is welcomed by some unfriendly zombies.  According to Deep Silver, Cliff has various moments of deja-vu throughout the game and he tries to figure out what it all means.

Artistically, the game goes in a different direction with cel-shaded graphics that look like something straight out of Suda 51’s playbook.
