The last couple of years were pretty good for Sony, even when it came to conferences like E3. In the last year they seemed to take a new and better approach when it came to gaming and they were certainly praised for taking this new path. But did they surpass Microsoft’s E3 conference, which was a complete success? Anyway, it doesn’t matter because Sony had some interesting moments going on, to say the least.

Coolest moment: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Need I say more? The word “uncharted” alone should suffice. Stunning visuals – check! by the way. Even though it was a very short trailer, it was simply the coolest moment of the conference, hands-down.

Bonus: The Order: 1886 gameplay video. It was clearly one of the highlights of Sony’s conference. It showcased a dark and intense level featuring stunning visual design and a deep atmosphere, just enough to make it uber-cool!

Lamest moment: Too much TV stuff. Not enough Vita stuff. Actually, not enough exclusive triple A goodness! Sony kinda’ went the old Microsoft way, and vice-versa. Come on Sony, pull your pants up! Shows us what we came for – the games! Not fancy gimmicks. They even dared saying “It’s all about the games” at the end of it.

Bonus: A TV show?! Really?!

Most surprising moment: No Man’s Sky. This game was considered a bit… dead, since the tiny indie studio that created it was flooded and lost almost all their work. But it seems like it’s alive and kicking and I’m sure that nobody, including me, expected to see it today. And it looks bloody incredible! Just like the old-school sci-fi books/movies, it has a certain vibe that lets us know it will be an awesome title. I just can’t wait for it to be released!

Bonus: Rockstar at E3!!! Yeah, it was all about GTAV on PS4, but Sony actually brought Rockstar at E3! And they never come at E3!

So now… the final question. Did Sony surpass Microsoft? I honestly do not know. In a way they did. In a way they did not. I’ll give Sony a 8.5/10 so I guess it’s a tie.
