Nintendo has just revealed that it has made a Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U. It’s currently unclear if the controller will be sold or just used during the tournament.
In an official video for the Super Smash Bros. Invitational this year, the company showed an image for a four-slotted adapter that lets you plug in Gamecube controllers into the Wii U, presumably for hardcore Smash Bros. players. The controller itself looks unique, suggesting it too will be available with the adapter.
The video didn’t provide a release date for the adapter, but it’s likely it will arrive around the time the new game hits the Wii U this year.
Correction: The previous version of this story incorrectly suggested Nintendo will be selling the adapter. That information is currently unknown.
