Magicka: Wizard Wars enters Open Beta
Paradox Interactive and Paradox North have stopped feeding Magicka: Wizard Wars their beta blocking pills (or perhaps Magicka simply took too many and became immune. Details are a bit fuzzy at this time.), causing it to enter Open Beta today.
The game is, for those unaware, a spellcasting player-vs-player (PvP) title in which misspelling can be quite deadly. Friendly fire is always on in this game, so players have to be extra careful with their casting or else they can easily tick off their teammates and begin a chain of retaliation.
The game’s advance to Beta introduces new content, including a new map set in the dark caves of Galdrhöll Halls where the players’ spell effects can truly shine. Of course that isn’t the only bit that will shine, as the slick red pieces of deceased Wizards will do the same.
A new “Raise Dead” Magick has also been added, allowing players to call forth undead zombie imps. The final addition to the title are brand new robes, staffs, and even unique skins, all of which the developers claim, “make it the most robust depiction of frantic spellcasting in gaming today.”
Will you be able to take down your foes, or will you simply become the aforementioned red bits because you were lax in your casting practice?
