Xbox One Games With Gold Similar to PlayStation Plus. It Requires Gold Subscription to Acces Games

by on May 14, 2014

Yesterday Microsoft has announced nearly half a dozen of changes that will be implemented next month. Xbox One will be available without the Kinect at retailers for 399$, Xbox Live Gold subscription is no longer needed to access Entertainment Apps, Games with Gold program starts for Xbox One and other more.

With the last one some details might have been overlooked. Unlike theXbox 360 Games with Gold, Xbox One will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to have access to its free titles. So Xbox One Games with Gold will require that users have a Gold subscription if they want to continue playing their “free” games. So if your subscription runs out, you will not be able to access the games.

“On Xbox One, active Gold membership required to play free games you’ve downloaded. Must download titles during designated window. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games.” says the statement. With this move Xbox One Games with Gold becomes similar to PlayStation Plus!

Games with Gold will launch on Xbox One in June, kicking off with Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault. Meanwhile, Games with Gold on Xbox 360 remains unchanged.
