ECGC 2014 expected to break 2013’s record.
For those unaware, Triangle Game Initiative and the East Coast Game Conference (ECGC) has been hosting an annual industry conference for six years come Wednesday. This conference is a gathering of video game writers, programmers, artists, designers, and producers, which allows for quite a bit of networking and even collaboration. Last year there were a grand total of 1,300 participants, but this year it is expected that the number will be exceeded.
North Carolina’s Research Triangle is home to more than 40 leading video game companies. Three examples are sponsors of the ECGC, specifically Epic Games, Ubisoft Red Storm, and Insomniac.
This year will host a few new programs as well. This includes a narrative track, featuring speakers from all across the game narrative spectrum. To be specific it will include panels, lectures, and discussions with lead gaming industry innovators, offering insight into topics such as AAA blockbusters, interactive fiction, (wildly successful) casual games, and even the building blocks of a successful career as a game writer. They will also speak about much more.
The ECGC will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23 and 24, from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. The full schedule can be found here.
