If you’re a competitive gamer, you may be interested in the fact that the upcoming Mario Golf: World Tour will feature both regional and worldwide online tournaments, hosted by Nintendo themselves. In addition to the official tournaments, you will be able to create custom tournaments.

Some may be wondering how they can enter the official tournaments. The answer is quite simple. As long as you own the game and have a wireless broadband Internet connection, you will be able to enter these tournaments by checking your SpotPass notifications to see upcoming and available events. You will also be able to utilize SpotPass to check the leaderboards to see where you are currently placed in the tournament.

In addition to the tournaments solely hosted by Nintendo, they are collaborating with Callaway Golf (for those unaware, this is a global golf gear manufacturer) in order to host its own series of special in-game tournaments. These will begin on May 22 and will be activated utilizing the SpotPass feature. Those who participate in these tournaments will receive special in-game digital Callaway gear which will enhance your Mii’s stats.

Those that win a tournament will receive in-game coins that can be utilized to acquire even more gear in Toad’s Shop. Once the game launches, you will be able to see a schedule for select tournaments at the following link: http://mariogolf.nintendo.com/tournaments.

The game will also feature the ability to allow players to create public or private communities. “In these communities,” Nintendo states, “players will be able to customize every aspect of the multiplayer experience to form a vast amount of fun new challenges.”

Those interested will be able to download a demo on April 24, and the game launches in both stores and the Nintendo eShop on May 2.
