Today the five-man development team known as the Indie studio Grimm Bros was proud to reveal that their Kickstarter campaign for Dragon Fin Soup has successfully given them 500% of their funding goal. They were asking for a mere $24,000, but received a total of $119,719 in pledges, successfully unlocking nine of their stretch goals.

The game, which is set in a world inspired by both fairytales and the classic console RPGs, has been in development for over a year now and is currently scheduled to release in 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, and Vita.

Ash Monif, the CEO of Grimm Bros, stated, “The kickstarter campaign for Dragon Fin Soup has been a real rollercoaster of emotions. Our initial expectations were blown away by an awesome community of backers who allowed us to quickly reach our funding goal and then supercede it. We are excited that our concept hit a sweet spot with so many gamers out there and we look forward to delivering our vision in 2014.”

The game starts out with Red Robin, the reimagined version of the classic Red Riding Hood character. Red Robin is a cheerful, yet raging alcoholic that makes her living as a sword-for-hire and bounty hunter in a remote country village. A year has passed since she lost her memory, but her past is slowly catching up with her as she discovers a world of murder, conspiracies, and magic.

Dragon Fin Soup allows you to either unravel the tale of your character in Story Mode or embark on a journey to discover the wilds of Asura in Survival Mode. The game features  a variety of locations, including spider forests, ice caves, abandoned mines, scorching deserts, mushroom forests, and even haunted mansions.

Will Red Robin be able to regain her memory? What dark secrets are buried within her past?
