Xbox One Update

Microsoft is rolling out a new Xbox One system update tonight, according to Major Nelson, who posted some details about it.

The system update will now bring notifications for when friends are signed into Xbox Live, as is the case with the Xbox 360, and friends who are in multiplayer will also be identified. Additionally a progress bar will show the status of game saves and gamers will be able to tell which games or apps have been updated or are in the process of being updated.

There are also some improvements to Kinect, as voice and motion improvements have been added; specifically the Xbox One commands have been updated, while gesture functionality will reduce “false positives on non-hand objects triggering gesture commands.”

Major Nelson also says that the GameDVR will see improved video quality while the Blu-ray player will support 50Hz output for content recorded at that rate.  There are also firmware updates that will reduce audio issues for headsets and the controller will see improved wireless connectivity.

Finally, the system will see a silent reboot after system updates and you’ll be able to manually update the system as well.
