A legend has died.
It is with great sadness that we report that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away at the age of 54, according to the WWE, only one day after giving a final and heartfelt speech at Monday Night Raw.
Only two days prior, Warrior (which he legally had changed his name to) had been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, after years of turmoil with Vince McMahon and company. It was an amazing sight to see The Ultimate Warrior finally immortalized, and given his rightful place in history, as he paid tribute not only to the company, but to the fans and to the wrestlers and staffers that helped him on his journey to become not only WWE Champion and Intercontinental Champion, but also one of the most iconic wrestlers of all-time. The Ultimate Warrior had cemented his place in pro wrestling lore when he pinned Hulk Hogan in a champion vs. champion match at WrestleMania VI at the Toronto Sky Dome.
Late last year, we had the privilege to sit down with the Warrior to discuss his inclusion in 2K’s WWE 2K14 game, in which he discussed his time in the business, his legacy and what it meant to be in the latest WWE game.
Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters. We offer our deepest condolences to the Warrior family.
