Blizzard’s 2014 April Fools’ joke is a fighting game
This year Blizzard has decided to release a brand new fighting game by the name of Blizzard Outcasts: Vengeance of the Vanquished. Or not. It’s actually an April Fools’ joke by the company Blizzard. The game itself is a hypothetical fighting game that features some of the company’s lesser known characters, such as the Treasure Goblin and Jim Raynor’s deceased wife.
The Outcasts page details the game and even has a FAQ for people who doubt the title is real. Heck, even the very first question in said FAQ is literally, “Are you guys for real?” They respond, “I have no idea why you would doubt us, but yes, we are indeed making this game. For realsies.”
If you’re wondering what consoles it would play on, they state that the game “will be released on PC, Mac, and special order arcade cabinets this holiday season.” Wait, arcade cabinets? What about next-generation consoles? Turns out they didn’t think about that, stating, “…oh. That probably would have made more sense than arcade cabinets.”
And if that wasn’t enough to convince you that the game is “real”, just check out the optional controller!
