Welcome, dear readers, to our twentieth edition of Gamebusters, the weekly feature where we track down strange gaming rumors and attempt to debunk them. This week we’ll be taking on the rumor of one of Nintendo’s debatably creepiest characters, Princess Daisy.
Why do we say she’s a creepy character? Well the first reason is Mario Kart: Double Dash. It seems that when Nintendo put her in the game they decided to give her a single line, “Hi, I’m Daisy”. This innocent-sounding line, when repeated over and over, eventually makes her sound like a cheerful murderous psychopath.
But enough about that, let’s get down to the myth. Supposedly Luigi’s girlfriend has a strange third eye. This can be seen in Super Smash Bros Melee once you have won her trophy. The rumor goes that if you zoom in until the camera clips underneath her hair, you’ll see a strange third eye on the back of her head.
This eye, though seemingly not utilized by Nintendo (yet), has been put in M.U.G.E.N. (for those unaware, this is a freeware fighting game which incorporates various characters from different series) as an attack.
Myth or fact? This myth, which makes Daisy even creepier, is actually fact. You really can see a third eye if you zoom in on the Super Smash Bros Melee trophy as instructed. It’s true, this could be a modeling error, but it’s odd that the eye doesn’t look like her other eyes, as you can see below. Instead it’s rather misshapen. Just when we thought that Daisy couldn’t get any creepier.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Gamebusters. As usual, if you have any myths in mind you’d like me to look into, just post in the comments and I’ll do my best to make your request a priority. Happy gaming!
