Nintendo UK announces that Advance Wars will be the first GBA game on Wii U’s Virtual Console.

Today it was confirmed via Twitter that the very first GBA game to grace the Wii U’s Virtual Console in Europe will be none other than Intelligent Systems’ popular turn-based strategy game, Advance Wars. The game will arrive on the platform on April 3, 2014.

While some fans of the game may be disappointed that the software will be on the Wii U instead of the 3DS, all fans should be able to agree that it is a good way to start the library of Virtual Console GBA games. Also joining the library in April will be Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3.

For those wondering, we have not yet received word if North America will be receiving the same title next week. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

What are your thoughts on the first GBA title to grace Europe’s Wii U Virtual Console?
