9. Birdo
Think back to that first time that you played Super Mario Bros 2. Remember the disappointment of jumping on Birdo’s head? Maybe you were a little quicker about it than I was, but when I finally realized that Birdo’s only weakness laid in the very egg that he spit from his mouth (pun intended), it finally cemented what I’d thought about the game from the beginning: it’s freakin’ weird. Still, Birdo was one of Mario’s first puzzle-y encounters, and for that, he makes the cut.
