There’s a 50/50 chance of getting a Last of Us sequel
For those unaware, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley participated in an AMA (Ask Me Anything, for those unaware) on Reddit yesterday and received several interesting questions. The one question that perhaps sparked the most debate was whether or not we’d be getting a sequel to the popular The Last of Us.
The reason for the debate is that many gamers feel like the game ended perfectly (or almost perfectly, anyway), and thus a sequel couldn’t really do anything. When asked if we’d be getting a sequel, Druckmann state, “…right now I’d say it’s 50/50.” He went on to add, “As far as Joel and Ellie, their story is over,” which implies that if we do get a sequel it will be focusing on other characters, whether they made an appearance in the original game or not.
Later he was asked if he misses Joel and Ellie, to which he stated, “I miss them dearly. I’d love to see them again—maybe in a different medium? We’ll see.”
Could he be implying a movie will be made based on the game? What do you think of his answers?
