Gamebusters myth 15: Obtaining the Triforce in Ocarina of Time

Can you obtain the Triforce in Ocarina of Time?

Can you obtain the Triforce in Ocarina of Time?

Welcome to another week of Gamebusters, dear readers. This week we’ll be examining a rumor that had fooled many in the past, the possibility of obtaining the Triforce in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Most of the Zelda fanbase had decided that there was no way to obtain the elusive Triforce, despite so many other people claiming that you could if you followed a certain set of steps. One day, however, a fan site by the name of Hyrule the Land of Zelda was contacted by somebody named Ariana Almandoz.

This person claimed that she had found a way to obtain the Triforce in Ocarina of Time, however she also provided proof of the feat, namely screens from the game. According to Almandoz you could obtain the Triforce as a child. If you became an adult it would be too late in the game to do anything and you would be completely unable to obtain the Triforce.

As a child you will meet somebody who teaches you a special song on your ocarina. This tune, titled Overture of Sages would, upon being played successfully, warp you to the mysteriously absent Temple of Light. Inside the temple is where the Triforce dwells, just waiting for our hero to claim it.

Many people who couldn’t find the teacher contacted Ariana, but received only taunts and insults in return. Finally she contacted Hyrule the Land of Zelda again stating, “First of all I want to say that I’m really upset with most of the people who think that the picture I took is a fake, some sort of photo composition or something like that. That’s why because you’re all losers, sorry to say this but you don’t have the guts to go and find it for yourself, you need my help. And this guy that claims to have found it before me… C’mon boy, you just want me to reveal the secret. And I will never reveal it unless you treat me with the respect I deserve. I found it and I deserve something, maybe Nintendo should give me a prize or at least a disscount for the next game.”

She went on to detail the steps, explaining that the owl that assists you is Rauru. She purposefully leaves out the second step, then states, “Somewhere, sometime Rauru will teach you the Overture of Sages“. Next you would have to go to the Temple of TIme before you receive the sword and become an adult.

Myth or fact? This one is purely myth. Though a woman by the name did contact the above site, this was all a hoax intended to fool the Zelda fans. And it was successful, as hundreds of people emailed her asking for assistance in finding the legendary Triforce.

For those wondering about the full story as far as the emails she sent goes, you can check here.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Gamebusters. As usual, please share if there are any myths you’d like me to look at and I’ll make them a priority.
