PlayStation 4 sells better than Sony expected.
Today Sony has made an announcement that is sure to bring a smile to the face of any Sony fan. Despite not having released their newest console in Japan as of yet, Sony has officially sold more than 5.3 million units worldwide.
This number is impressive, and is far beyond what the company had predicted. For those unaware, Sony had guessed that the PlayStation 4 would reach 5 million units sold by the end of March, with the number taking into account the system’s launch in Japan on February 22, 2014. Instead they have managed sold another million units since the start of 2014.
Some may be reading this and wondering, “Do you really mean units sold, or do you actually mean shipped?” If you’re wondering, yes, we do indeed mean units sold. As a result, it seems that Sony has surpassed both Nintendo and Microsoft, as the former had announced that they had shipped (yes, shipped, not sold) 5.86 million units in its lifetime. The latter had shipped 3.9 million units at the end of 2013.
What are your thoughts on this revelation by Sony?
