Sony’s San Diego Studios has released some new info on MLB 14 The Show, as well as provided official release dates for the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game.
According to the developer, MLB 14 The Show will include Community Challenges, which are baseball scenarios, either from history, present situations or something new, can be created and shared online. There will also be a new Universal Profile that tracks player tendencies, which then allows you to train your own profile and then submit it to Diamond Dynasty games so that your human opponent can get a better matchup.
The Online Franchise adds more to the Online Leagues, as multi-season play will be available with Scouting, the Amateur Draft, Free Agency, and CPU Trades.
Add-on purchases will be attainable using Stubs, which is a new Universal Currency, though the studio says that players don’t have to buy anything to fully enjoy the game. Stubs can also be earned through playing the game and will be tied to the Universal Profile.
“Most importantly, the rate at which Stubs are earned is intentionally generous. We are not designing the system to pressure players into spending money. It will be the same system it’s been in years prior, just all rolled together with a new name,” says community manager Ramone Russell.
And of course, this is the series’ debut on the PlayStation 4, of which we have posted some screenshots here, and look amazing.
The PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game will be out on April 1, while the PS4 version releases sometime in May.
