Sony releases new mandatory PS3 update 4.55

Update: While no official changelog was released, someone called customer support and found out that the update is ” for the Blu-ray player and a check on the DVD”. I will keeping updating the post when more information surfaces.

After PlayStation 4 received a brand new and slightly useless update, now it’s PlayStation 3’s turn to get a update. While we don’t know anything about the update, regarding what it adds to the console or what it removes, the update seems to be mandatory.

And why is it mandatory? Because you have to update your console in order to access the online features. There are some speculations that this update is for software stability, but it’s better to wait for an official Sony statement before we get angry at them for releasing an unknown update.
