Two important members of the CD Projekt RED crew, Marek Ziemak (gameplay producer) and Maciej Szczesnik (lead gameplay designer of The Witcher series) left the Polish studio to join an indie team called 11 Bit Studios.
On his arrival at the new studio, Maciej Szczesnik stated:
“I’ll be responsible for the entire design of a game that took shape in my imagination. It’s a really exciting feeling to create a new world from scratch, make its characters and rules and to know that I have this blank page to fill with my ideas and then bring them to life.”
Grzegorz Miechowski, managing director at 11 Bit Studios said that he is thrilled to have such talents working for the studio and that it will take it to a whole new level.
This may sound as bad news for the final part of The Witcher saga and let’s not forget that there is another game in the works at CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077, which may suffer from this departure as well. But the resignation of the two could mean that their work on The Witcher 3 is already finished and the game is probably closing in on its final stage of development. Maybe we’ll even see an official release date, as the studio kept silent on that matter.
CD Projekt RED has not yet released any statements or comments on this story.
