Tales of Phantasia becomes free-to-play on iOS
Some mobile games may recall that Tales of Phantasia hit the App Store last autumn in Japan. This title introduced a ramped up difficulty that tried to push gamers towards microtransactions.
It should be noted that it is possible to get through the game without utilizing these microtransactions, but they do tend to afford certain benefits. One such example, as our friends at Destructoid point out, is the ability to continue from where you left off if you happen to be killed in battle.
The iOS version of the game features touch controls, of course, as well as achievements. Perhaps the two most puzzling features of the newly made free-to-play title are the leaderboards and the always-online requirement the game possesses.
If you can get past these new “Features”, you will likely enjoy the game, as Tales of Phantasia is considered a classic by many gamers.
What do you think of the free-to-play decision?
