CES: Sony sells 4.2 million PS4s, 9.7 million games
After Sony’s CES 2014 keynote, we now have some updated sales numbers for the PlayStation 4, as reported by Games Industry International.
During the keynote, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House revealed that the company had sold 4.2 million PS4s through December 28, while also noting that they had sold 9.7 million PS4 games, in digital and physical copies combined.
Microsoft, by contrast, recently stated that they had sold 3 million Xbox Ones through the end of 2013, though it’s also important to note that the Xbox One is available in 13 countries, while the PS4 is available in a whopping 53.
No doubt also boosted by the announcement of the PS4’s PlayStation Now streaming service for previous-gen software, the PlayStation Plus service has seen a 90% boost in subscriptions worldwide.
