CES: Pebble reveals its new Pebble Steel smartwatch
Pebble has today announced their newest smartwatch with the Pebble Steel, just as CES 2014 kicks off this week.
The company had a great 2013, with the introduction of the original Pebble watch but the new model, while still using clear ePaper for its display, long battery life and waterproof design, is now made of CNC_machined stainless steel.
This new smartwatch looks very attractive, with the display being protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and an anti-fingerprint coat. There is an RGB LED light to indicate the charge status and will come in Brushed Stainless and Black Matte finishes.
The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass lens with an oleophobic, anti-fingerprint coating. The housing also subtly incorporates a RGB LED light to indicate charge status. Like the original Pebble, Pebble Steel is waterproof up to 5 ATM.
Pebble is already offering pre-orders via its website for $249, which includes free shipping, and the company says it will begin shipping the new watches on Jan. 28.
In addition, Pebble had revealed that they will be launching their own app marketplace, with Pandora, ESPN and Mercedes-Benz, along with Yelp, Foursquare, GoPro and iControl already being signed on as partners.
By the end of this month, the Pebble appstore will have launched and will include apps and watchfaces.
