Ubisoft ponders a new pirate game franchise

Ubisoft ponders creating a pirate franchise outside of AC.

Ubisoft has taken notice of how many gamers are loving the pirate sections of Assassin’s Creed IV, and have sent out a survey that asks, among other things, if gamers think a new pirate franchise would be interesting.

They follow up by asking, “In such a game, what would be the most important elements among these below?” You can pick between a customizable character, ship and hideout (all three are on one choice), a deeper economy, or additional activities at sea or on land. It also goes on to ask about your interest in cooperative and multiplayer naval combat, specifically asking if you would like to either “sail and fight with my friends” or “sail and fight with other players”.

The survey goes on to ask similar questions for Assassin’s Creed V that we’ve seen in previous surveys conducted by the company, such as the interest in a modern character.

Do you think a stand-alone pirate franchise would work?

Thanks, IGN.
