Man allegedly threatens lives of two Nintendo executives
Today a 25 year-old man was arrested in Japan for allegedly threatening two Nintendo executives.
This news, reported by Sankei News (via Kotaku) states that on May 20, the suspect allegedly accessed the online inquiry form on Nintendo’s homepage via his home computer. He went ont o name two Nintendo executives that he was “going to kill sooner or later”.
The names of which executives were threatened have not been released, and earlier today the Kyoto police arrested the suspect. According to the police, the man, who lives in Akita Prefecture, even admitted to the crime.
The police go on to state that the man also allegedly wrote several other threats on Nintendo’s site. One of these was, “I’d planted bombs at Nintendo headquarters, tomorrow afternoon they’re going to blow up, Nintendo go bankrupt.” The authorities checked the IP address for this comment and discovered that it matched the suspect’s computer’s address.
There were also similar threats in September, and the police are currently investigating to see if there’s a connection between those threats and the ones the suspect admitted to.
