Gamers who enjoy recording their best gaming moments will be happy to know that Hauppauge is releasing a new video recorder in the form of the HD PVR Rocket, which is being showcased at Paris game Week.
The HD PVR Rocket can record gameplay from current consoles and PC in 1080p and is the smallest recorder the company has manufactured, coming in at just 4.6 oz. The device is a follow-up to Hauppauge’s previous recorder, the HD PVR 2, which we had a chance to review. However, the recorder requires a PC or Mac to store the recordings. The Rocket on the other hand, allows you to connect a USB drive to record and store the footage. There is also an audio mixer built-in to the device as well, and a microphone can be plugged in for audio commentary with adjustable volume.
Utilizing Hauppauge’s Capture software for Windows, users can then upload their videos to YouTube and recordings are compatible with Mac for editing in iMovie.
Since the HD PVR Rocket accepts HDMI input, it is compatible with the PS3 (via component video), Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, and even the PS4 and Xbox One.
Starting on Nov. 15, the recorder will be available at retailers including Best Buy, in the U.S. and Europe.
