Warhammer Online goes free-to-play before shutdown

Warhammer Online goes free-to-play.

Warhammer Online gamers have likely already heard the somewhat sad news of the popular MMORPG shutting down come mid-December. Those same gamers may be somewhat happy to hear that, as a reward for their support of the game, Mythic is making the game free-to-play.

This free-to-play model will be available for gamers with accounts in good standing as of this past Thursday, and will remain until the game shuts down in December. In addition, Mythic promises that, “We will  be adding new NPCs to the game to help you power up your characters.”

After five years of providing entertainment for gamers, many received the news and felt a good deal of sadness. Others were unaffected, having never played the game before. Which of these categories do you fall into? And what do you think of the developer making it free-to-play for the final month?
