Ubisoft delays Watch Dogs, The Crew

Two big titles from Ubisoft have been hit with delays today.

FIrst up is the action title, Watch Dogs, which has been delayed until spring 2014. The delay, according to communications manager Gary Steinman, is due to polish.

“As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience,” he wrote on the game’s blog.

Yves Guillemot said during the financial results call today that, “Today we can say we already have a great game in hand. Still, in a world of mega-blockbusters, we have now come to the conclusion that the team needed additional time to realize the game’s full potential.”

The other title, open-world racing game The Crew, won’t be out until Q2 of fiscal year 2015, which falls between July 2014 and September 2014.

Damn, well that sucks about Watch Dogs…was looking forward to playing that over the holidays.

I think it is actually good news. I’m glad they decided to get everything working, and fix all bugs BEFORE releasing a game of this complexity. This was the most impressive game I’ve previewed in a long time!
