Ouya signs over 25,000 developers

Ouya hits major milestone.

Despite the controversy over their Free the Games program, the Ouya has successfully signed on over 25,000 developers.

A spokesperson speaking on behalf of the Ouya team has stated that the console has now hit a “major milestone” by gaining so many developers to sign on for their console, and they are “rapidly” nearing 500 games and apps on the digital store.

It should be noted, however, that this number may not take into account two things. The first would be how many developers are actually creating content for the Ouya. The second thing that it may not be taking into account would be the number of developers who have parted ways with Ouya after the aforementioned controversy.

It should be noted that, as Dragos had reported earlier in the year, the Ouya team did overhaul their Free the Games fund program.

Will the Ouya succeed? Or will the struggles it’s experienced doom it to failure in the end?

Thanks, Joystiq!
