Tekken producer states that PlayStation 5 probably won’t be a console
Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada spoke to Famitsu about several things today. One of these things was a theory of his that the PlayStation 5 wouldn’t be a console.
Said Mr. Harada, “I think in the future, it’ll will be a contest of services instead of hardware.” He added that the cloud services will progress, and he believes taht all that will truly remain are the service’s names.
He went on to state that, “When there’s the PS5, it will probably be just a controller and a monitor. Then, the thing that will be left is the name of the service.” He also mentioned the online services such as PlayStation Network and Steam as he made these statements.
With the PlayStation 4 coming out this year, it’s estimated that the PlayStation 5, if it is created, won’t be released until around 2020. As such, Mr. Harada’s suggestions may not be too far off the mark.
What do you think? Is he correct?
