Eminem ties ‘Marshall Mathers LP 2’ to release of ‘CoD: Ghosts’ with GameStop pre-order bonus

Gamers are getting ready to lose themselves in Activision’s annual CoD title, Call of Duty: Ghosts. One fan in particular is amping up for the release. His name is (what?) his name is (who?) his name is… Slim Shady.

Rap star Eminem joins the mass of game players getting ready to dive in to the new Infinity Ward offering, and earlier this month announced that he would lend one of his new tracks, “Survival,” to the launch of the new first-person shooter. Later this month, “Survival” will be released as part of a music video trailer for Ghosts, running until launch.

Continuing the partnership, Activision and Eminem announced a combo package for those pre-ordering at GameStop. Gamers putting in their pre-order for Ghosts will pick up the game on launch day, as well as a one-time code to download Eminem’s new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, at a special price of $8.99. This exclusive code will feature the full album, plus “Survival” as well as an exclusive bonus track.

“The energy and intensity of ‘Survival’ really matches Call of Duty: Ghosts,” said Eminem in a prepared statement. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of the franchise.”

Codes for The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be printed on receipts after a completed transaction. Gamers wishing to take advantage of the code must do so online before November 19th, two weeks after the launch. This builds on the wide amount of content already building for the launch, including exclusive downloadable content as well as an exclusive multiplayer character, the one and only Simon “Ghost” Riley from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Both Call of Duty: Ghosts and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will launch on November 5. No word yet on if Eminem considers the Call of Duty dog his “dawg.”
