Minecraft hits 33 million units sold.
The ever popular Minecraft is still showing no signs of slowing down, according to the game’s website’s official counter. This counter shows that the PC version has sold over 12 million copies.
This comes after the announcement during June, when Mojang announced that the game had sold a total of 22 million units across all platforms. Upon hearing that the PC version broke another million units sold, IGN asked the company what the current figures are, and were answered that “across all platforms, the Minecraft franchise has shifted over 33 million units.”
With so many units already sold, we have to wonder just how well the game will do in the future. After all, Mojang is planning on releasing an Xbox One version, as well as versions for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4.
Will the Minecraft fever that seems to have only heated up over the past two months continue to go strong? Or will the popular game’s sales begin to taper off?
